Latest Updates: 

1. IIT Hyderabad PhD admission application process is still on. The last date to apply for the same is November 11, 2020.
2. IIT Hyderabad M.Tech admission is based on GATE exam scores. GATE 2020 exam was conducted between February 1 to February 9, 2020. The result for the same was declared on March 16, 2020. The online registration & fee payment and online choice filling started on May 13, 2020, and concluded on June 12, 2020. The counseling process by CCMT ended on August 19, 2020. Now the candidates can participate in the special round for the final admission. The deadline to submit the online applications to M.Tech. CSE 2020 special round of admission was extended till October 12, 2020. Now the portal has been closed.
3. IIT Hyderabad M.Sc admissions are based on JAM exam scores. The admissions for the 2020 session are complete. Candidates can now apply for JAM 2021 from September 10, 2020, to October 15, 2020.

IIT Hyderabad Admission

The candidates seeking admission in the Institute are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria as per the courses. For B.Tech program, Candidates who have secured at least 75% marks in 10+2 examinations or have maintained a position in the top 20 percentile are eligible to apply. SC/ST category candidates will be given a marks relaxation of 10% in the eligibility criteria.

IIT Hyderabad kick-started its 2020-21 placement drive on December 1, 2020. The institute witnessed the participation of 222 students who got placed within the first phase of the placement drive itself. The students received 30 international offers from 63 companies. The students had already bagged 46 pre-placement offers this year, bypassing last year’s (2019-2020) total PPOs of 37.

The institute inaugurated its placements with 53 job offers from 15 companies on the first day itself. A total of 490 students had registered for placements across different departments during the 2019-20 batch. A total of 325 offers from 120+ companies were rolled out by the end of phase I of campus placements, including 37 pre-placement offers (PPOs), which are the results of student internships, according to a statement by the institute.

 

As many as 38 international offers have been secured by the students during phase I of placements. IITH witnessed the growth in placement percentage and the highest package offered in the year 2020 was INR 60.41 LPA while the average CTC stood at INR. 22.07 LPA.

 

The top recruiters were- Infosys, Dell, Deloitte, Microsoft, AMD Bangalore, Amazon, Oracle, and etc. 

 

IIT Hyderabad is the first IIT to include a 6-month internship in the curriculum. B.Tech. students can now pursue a 6-month Internship at any firm or university.

IIT Hyderabad Placement Highlights 2021

 

IIT Hyderabad inaugurated its 2021 placement drive on December 1, 2020. The institute concluded phase one of its 2021 placements on December 6, 2020. The students bagged over 222 placement offers (30 International Offers) from 63 companies. A total of 30 International offers were provided by 8 recruiters based in Japan and Taiwan. More international offers are expected in Phase 2.

A total of 244 companies have registered for placements, out of which 116 were registered for the first phase itself. Over 75% of the students are already placed in the first phase of the placements. Some of the top recruiters who participated in the Phase-1 of placements include- Microsoft, Goldman & Sachs, Jaguar, Land Rover, MTX, BNY Mellon, Airtel, OPPO, and etc. Most of the offers so far were from the IT/ITES sector with few in the core sector as well.

IIT Hyderabad made up another highly successful placement session. The placement witnessed various recruiters offer and multiple roles in numerous departments such as Consulting, IT, Finance, Sales, and Marketing. 

 

Placements at IIT Hyderabad for the academic year 2019–2020 had received 291 offers (as on 30 July 2020) for 479 registered students. The top paying companies were TSMC, Microsoft, Richtek, Denso and D.E Shaw. The highest salary offered for this year was INR. 60.41 LPA and the average salary is INR. 22 LPA. There were 38 international offers

 

A good number of students from UG, PG and M.Sc. opted for higher education in India and abroad.

The maximum number of participating students were from the B.Tech. stream followed by M.Tech. A total of 12 students had registered for placements from the M.Des. and 8 from Ph.D. programs. 25 students had registered from the Dual Degree program.

IIT Hyderabad Year-wise Placement Analysis

Being in the top 10 IITs in India IIT Hyderabad has excelled in placements every year, placing the students in various international companies with a huge amount of pay.

IITH Summer Internship 2020

Over 50 companies participated in the Summer Placements for the 2019-2020 batch, which provided over 157 placement offers.

IIT Hyderabad is the first IIT to include a 6 month internship in the curriculum. B.Tech. students can now pursue a 6 month Internship at any firm or university.

IIT Hyderabad Rankings 2020 – NIRF, QS Global Engineering, THE

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), just a decade old has been successfully making improvements in its rank numbers in various forums. According to NIRF, it has jumped two places up since the year 2017 to rank at eighth position in the year 2019 and has retained its eighth position in the year 2020. 

 

It has also been ranked in the top ten (#7) according to JagranJosh showing a better position than the previous year (#8). It has held the 2nd rank after IIT Madras in EduVidya rankings for an engineering college in South India.

 

On the global front, QS Global Ranking has awarded IIT Hyderabad 15th position among other Indian engineering institutions. Further, it has also been ranked at 135th place in Times Higher Education Asia Ranking.

This IIT still has a number of competitors in the race to the top. IIT Madras, Bombay, and Kharagpur have been on the top 3 for quite a number of years. Yet IIT Hyderabad has maintained a good position showing drastic improvements according to some reliable sources. It is expected to do better in the coming years.

“IIT Hyderabad has seen a remarkable rise of 2 places in its rank according to NIRF. It was ranked at 10th place in 2018 and improved subsequently one place per year since 2018”.

Taking in the view of other IITs in the NIRF list, IIT Madras scored highest NIRF Score and been a consistent topper of the list. Comparing with IIT Madras, the institute is just seven places to top the engineering institutes in the country.

JagranJosh rankings are holistic and do not have specified parameters but the data is considered quite accurate as it is based on facts and perception.

The above-mentioned data shows a lot of differences in ranking for the same institution. This is because every agency has their criteria and process for ranking institutions. While some are performance-based evaluation others might be on the basis of reputation among students or employers. There are some agencies that do not have a well-defined parameter but yet provide reliable information.
